3 John

Chapter 1 of 1
1From the elder, to our brother Gaius, whom I love in truth. 2My brother, above all I pray for you that your way may prosper and that you may live in good health, as your soul is doing well. 3I was overjoyed when the brothers came and testified to your love, how you walk in the truth. 4I have no greater joy than this: to hear that my children are walking in the truth. 5My brother, what you have done for the brothers is a faithful work. 6You do the same for strangers, who have testified to your love before the church. Continue this good work and send them on their way in a manner worthy of God. 7For they went out for the sake of his name and took nothing from the Gentiles. 8So we ought to welcome people like these, so that we may be partners in the truth. 9I wrote this to the church earlier, but Diotrephes, who wants to be their leader, will not accept us. 10So when I come, I will bring up what he is doing. He is not satisfied with speaking evil against us. He even refuses to welcome the brothers, stops those who want to welcome them, and throws them out of the church. 11My brother, do not be like one who does evil, but like one who does good. Whoever does good is from God. Whoever does evil has not seen God. 12Everyone speaks well of Demetrius, and the truth itself speaks for him. We speak for him too, and you know that our testimony is true. 13I have much to write to you, but I do not want to write it with ink and pen. 14Instead, I hope to see you soon, and we will talk face to face. 15Peace to you. Our brothers send you greetings. Greet our friends there, each by name.
