Galatians
Chapter 1 of 6
1Paul, an apostle, not sent by human beings or through any human being, but by our Lord Jesus Christ and God the Father, who raised him from the dead, 2and all the brothers who are with me, to the church of Galatia. 3Peace to you, and grace from God our Father and our Lord Jesus Christ, 4who gave himself for our sins to rescue us from this world that resists with evil, by the will of God our Father. 5To him be glory and power forever and ever. Amen. 6I am amazed at how quickly they are turning you away from the faith of Christ, who called you by his grace, to a different teaching. 7It is no teaching at all. It is only that some people are troubling you and want to distort the teaching of Christ. 8But you, follow in our footsteps. Even if an angel from heaven should teach you anything other than what we taught you, let him be accursed. 9As I said before, I say again now: if anyone teaches you anything other than what we taught you, let him be accursed. 10Am I now trying to win over people and not God? If I wanted to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ. 11I tell you, brothers, that the teaching I taught you is not of human origin. 12I did not receive it from any human being, nor was I taught it. It came through what my Lord Jesus Christ revealed to me. 13You have heard of my former way of life when I was among the Jews, how fiercely I persecuted the church of God and tried to destroy it. 14I advanced in Judaism far beyond all my peers among my people, for I was extremely zealous for the law of my fathers. 15But God, who set me apart and brought me out of my mother's womb and called me by his grace, was pleased and willed 16to reveal his Son to me, so that the glory of his Son might be made known through my hands and I might preach his name to the Gentiles. I did not immediately turn to flesh and blood. 17I did not go up to Jerusalem to the apostles who came before me. Instead I went to Arabia, and then I returned to Damascus. 18After three years I went up to Jerusalem to see Cephas, and I stayed with him fifteen days. 19I did not see any other apostles except James, the brother of our Lord. 20What I am writing to you, look, before God, I am not lying. 21After this I went to the regions of Cilicia and Syria. 22The churches of Judea that are in Christ did not know me by sight. 23They only heard, "The man who once persecuted us is now preaching the teaching of the faith." 24And they praised God because of me.
