Song of Songs

Chapter 1 of 8
1Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth. Your breasts are lovelier than wine, and the fragrance of your perfume is finer than all spices. 2Your name is perfume poured out. That is why the young women love you and draw you after them. 3We will run after the fragrance of your perfume. The king has brought me into his chamber. We will be glad and rejoice in you. We will love your breasts more than wine. It is right to love you. 4I am dark but lovely, daughters of Jerusalem, like the tents of Kedar and the pavilions of Solomon. 5Do not stare at me because I am dark, for the sun has looked on me. 6My mother's sons were angry with me. They made me keeper of the vineyards, but my own vineyard I have not kept. 7Tell me, you whom my soul loves, where do you pasture your flock, and where do you let it lie down at noon? Why should I be like a woman who wanders among the flocks of your companions? 8If you do not know, most beautiful of women, go out in the tracks of the flock and pasture your young goats among the shepherds' folds. 9I have compared you, my love, to my mare among Pharaoh's chariots. 10Your cheeks are as lovely as a dove's, and your neck is like a necklace. 11We will make you ornaments of gold with studs of silver, while the king reclines at his table. 12My nard has given off its fragrance. 13My beloved is to me a bundle of myrrh that rests between my breasts. 14My beloved is to me a cluster of henna in bloom in the vineyards of En-gedi. 15How beautiful you are, my love, how beautiful! Your eyes are doves. 16How handsome you are, my beloved, how lovely! Lovely too is our couch of cypress. 17The beams of our house are cedar, and our rafters are cypress.
